🌏 2025 Busan Global City Forum — A Glimpse into the Future of Smart and Sustainable Cities

The 2025 Busan Global City Forum, held on October 27 at the Grand Josun Busan, brought together world city leaders, digital innovators, and global experts under the theme “Digital Transformation for Inclusive and Sustainable Cities.”

A Forum of Global Collaboration and Innovation ✨

The event opened with a special Global Mayors’ Dialogue at the Paradise Hotel Busan, where the mayors of Kigali (Rwanda), Copenhagen (Denmark), and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) joined the Mayor of Busan to share their visions of how digital innovation is reshaping urban life.
The discussion highlighted global best practices in digital governance, smart city infrastructure, and sustainable urban strategies.

In the afternoon, the main sessions took place at the Grand Josun Busan Ballroom, divided into three key themes —
“Innovation and Cities,” “Digital ODA,” and “Youth, Culture, and Digital.”
Experts and policymakers from Korea and abroad engaged in lively discussions about the role of technology in building more connected and human-centered cities.

During the Digital ODA session, Cho Hyun-kyu, Director of KOICA, introduced strategies for promoting digital ODA, while Ko Yoon-seok, Head of Global Cooperation at the National Information Society Agency (NIA), presented the current state of global cooperation in the AI sector.

In the Youth and City session, 20 Global Youth Ambassadors from four countries joined Lee Jin-gyu, Head of Management at Brand New Music, to discuss the potential of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) and cultural industries as drivers of urban innovation and youth engagement.

Sharing Ideas for the Future 🌱

Particularly inspiring was the lecture by neuroscientist Dr. Jung Dong-sun, who explored how humans can adapt and connect meaningfully in the digital era.
Participants reflected on what “a better quality of life” means in a rapidly changing technological world.
